To start off, I'm not very inclined with technology. It took me forever to figure out how to use my IPhone, let alone VoiceThread (or even this blog). VoiceThread is not as easy as it looks or sounds. It is very complex with a lot of twists and turns. Though it be difficult at first, it gets easier as you explore your options, as does many things in one's life.
As I was searching and searching to find things that I could do with this VoiceThread, I came across my little icon thing. I needed a picture!! Once again, I found many other things, BUT where to change your picture. I found out how much webcam minutes and storage I can have on my VoiceThread account (30 minutes and 75MB), how to sign out (even when you do NOT want to), and how to add a new identity. Finally, I found the page I needed to be at, and I uploaded the photo I wanted to show as my icon, which took forever to load in case you were wondering. Figuring out that not-so-complicated task, I was ready to move onto bigger and better things...figuring out how to upload a video! "Great", I thought. This is going to take all night. Luckily, it was much easier to upload a video than it was to change my icon picture. Go figure.
I had a very hard time finding out how to edit a VoiceThread that someone else (Princess) had posted. I called her (multiple times) and was finally able to do so. Princess had to send me another invite, and from there it was cake.
I didn't think this was going to be a good exercise for me to do, but it turned out to be fun. I had a great time finding out new ways to make a VoiceThread better. Having this in my classroom will be very helpful. My clinical teacher, Mr. P., was showing me an activity he had done with a PowerPoint presentation he created. It was just like a VoiceThread, but without videos. He was able to add audio and comments. It made me start thinking about all the ways I could use this in my classroom. I am so excited to learn more about this program.

ReplyDeleteI am sorry you had such a hard time getting started. I have had some experience with VoiceThread in the past, but I only accessed a few of its tools. This type of collaboration has helped me to become more comfortable with my knowledge of the VoiceThread. I am looking forward to using this application in the classroom.
